PRIMARY SEN Teacher: Alternative Primary Provision at LEAP

(LEAP Primary Alternative Provision and Assessment Centre)

Inner London Teacher Main Scale/Upper Pay Scale plus SEN Allowance (£2,539) with a possibility of a TLR.

Required ASAP

London East Alternative Provision (LEAP) is an all-through (Primary to Post-16) inner city, successful and high-achieving alternative provision located in Tower Hamlets.

We are looking to appoint an experienced SEN Primary Teacher to teach and support our small, but extremely vulnerable Primary School aged children who are in need of comprehensive cognitive, behavioural and psycho-neurological assessments in order to either allow them to return to their original mainstream primary school or to signpost them to the right specialist educational provision.

Applicants will have experience in the teaching, pastoral provision and care of some of the most vulnerable children of primary age, perhaps even in an alternative provision setting, and be familiar with the complex challenges our particular cohort faces.

Most of our children have a number of complex needs, ranging from undiagnosed learning, to neurodiversity, high social care and conduct disorder needs.

Our role will be to work in partnership with the child’s primary school, to closely liaise with and support parents, to collaborate with external agencies such as Children’s Social Care, parenting support services, speech and language therapists and CAMHS in order to ensure early intervention and assessment.

Our role will also be to keep each child engaged in education, to foster a love of learning, with a focus on reading, and to have positive and meaningful relationships with the adults who care for them.

Our Primary Assessment centre looks after up to 6 full time children of primary school age (some of whom will be with us on a part time basis), who will come with a multitude of complex social care as well as cognitive and behavioural needs.

The successful candidate will have extensive experience of SEN teaching children with SEMH at primary level and will be able to support our primary lead with the day to day running of our primary provision.

Those wishing to be considered for the role should complete an application form and return to Kathryn Ryan, School Business Manager, by 9am, Monday 26th February 2024 at recruitment@londoneastap.org.uk

Please be aware that we are unable to accept CVs.

We would welcome and encourage potential candidates to visit our schools. Please telephone or email to arrange this or for an application pack.

  • Closing date for applications: 9am Monday, 26th February 2024

London East Alternative Provision is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All successful candidates will be required to undergo safer recruitment checks including an enhanced DBS disclosure and Barred List Checks.
