Parental Support at LEAP
If you are struggling to manage your child at home and are worried about their wellbeing, we are here to support you!
Many parents are facing challenges with their child and are running out of strategies to manage them in and outside of the family home – come and speak to us, we can help!
Our parental engagement policy is designed to support parents/carers in helping their children to succeed in all aspects of their life.
At LEAP we believe that by strengthening the relationship between parents and the school is key. We will work in partnership with you to ensure the best possible outcomes for your child.
At LEAP we have qualified Strengthening Families, Strengthening Communities facilitators, as well as Restorative Justice facilitators (in fact, all staff are trained in restorative practice), which enable us to support our students and their families in a number of ways.
Parental engagement with LEAP has a positive impact on our pupils’ achievement and wellbeing.
Our parental engagement offer includes:
· meet the Headteacher drop ins: every Friday at 11am at 21 Tollet Street, E1 4EE
· termly workshops with a variety of themes, from Child Criminal Exploitation to Online Safety
· Family Support Lead as a main point of contact: Denise Foster
· key workers to support your child on a daily basis, as well as being the go-to person for any concerns a parent/carer might have about their child

My role consists of:
- Working in partnership with parents, carers and Harpley to promote Parental Engagement.
- Providing parent/carers with practical and emotional support.
- Provide additional practical support to parents and carers (application forms, telephoning and/or liaising with other agencies including Children’s Services etc.)
- Signposting/completing referrals to support families, such as financial support, employment, housing and benefits.
- Supporting families with Attendance and liaising with the Attendance Team.
- Supporting with Pastoral and Pupil Welfare.
- Any parenting worries or issues.
- Advice and support to develop your own skills and confidence.
